Commissions can come from seller’s and/or buyer’s broker. Do not hesitate to ask your agent about how they are compensated, outside broker cooperation or anything commission related. Open discussions are a must when working with a trustworthy agent.

Dual agency occurs when the same brokerage represents both the buyer and seller in the same sale/purchase. This may involve one agent representing both the buyer and seller or two agents from the same brokerage each representing their respective clients (ex: Agent A from Reed Realty represents the seller and Agent B from Reed Realty represents the buyer).

The short answer is no, you are not required to use a local lender.

Many factors contribute to which lender will work best for you such as, type of financing, the type of property (residential, commercial, etc.), technology limitations/availability, to name a few.

Logistics are a great place to start. Ask yourself a few questions such as: Do I want to mow a large lawn? Can I plow my own driveway? Do I have four-wheel drive for when it’s snowing & I’ve got to drive 10+ miles to work? Do I want to be within walking/biking distance to downtown/work? Am I ok with close neighbors and their kids/pets? Do I want livestock, horses, etc.? There are positives and negatives to both city and rural living, it’s more about what fits best with your lifestyle!
